When is the museum open?
Shippen Manor museum is open on the first and second Sundays, from May to December (except for holidays). Please visit our programming page for our schedule.
Is there an admission to get into the museum?
No, we are a County museum and therefore, do not charge visitors. The Friends of Shippen, however, do collect donations. All proceeds are used for the museum.
Does the museum give tours to school groups?
Absolutely! We do have a maximum number for school groups.
For inquiries and more information, please call or email Gina Rosseland, Assistant Administrator of Cultural & Heritage Affairs. 908-453-4381, x. 223.
Are you having Summer Lawn Concerts?
Yes. They are scheduled for 2024 on Sundays from July 7 to September 1, weather permitting, from 6pm to 8pm.
In the event of inclement weather, an announcement will be made on our Facebook (Shippen Manor) to cancel the concert. If we can reschedule, we will try to do so.
Are children welcome in the museum or to the concerts?
Absolutely. We enjoy our younger visitors and want to share our events with them.
All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
For those coming into the museum, single strollers will be able to maneuver inside of the museum, whereas twin strollers (or larger) will not. Please be careful inside of the museum when maneuvering with strollers.
Can I park on your site for the museum or concerts?
For the museum:
- For regular museum days (1-4pm), the back parking is open, but it is limited with space. When the parking areas are filled, please park in town.
- For special event museum days (10/11-4pm), the driveway and back parking is closed in order to allow our visitors, volunteers and staff to move about freely.
For Summer Lawn Concerts (parking):
- The back parking is closed this year to the public.
- The Belvidere Ave (small) lot at our entrance will be primarily for folks with mobility issues. It is very small and fills up quickly.
Please do not block the driveways or parked cars on our site. These are fire lanes and must remain open and unrestricted at all times.
For more parking information, please visit Shippen Manor Programming and Summer Lawn Concerts for locations and maps to show open and closed parking areas that are off-site.
There is no parking on Belvidere Avenue. Please do not park on our grass unless it has been designated for handicap parking (signs). Those are limited and reserved for visitors who have blue and white tags and/or plates, on either side. The Church has installed "No Parking" signs, please respect their request to not have concert goers park on their property.
