The History Office (Cultural & Heritage) works towards conserving, preserving and educating the public regarding State, County and local histories.

Shippen Manor was built in four stages between 1754-mid-19th c. and has been associated with the Shippens, Robeson, Blair/Roberdeau, Henry, Scranton, Valentine, Loux, Wood, and Kappler families and affiliated with various incantations of the iron/mining industries in Oxford.

Our historic furnace is located on the corner of Washington Ave. and Cinder St., next to the Colonial United Methodist Church of Oxford (until 1913 was a grist mill).
